Renault S.A., commonly referred to as Groupe Renault (, ; , also known as the Renault Group in English), is a French multinational corporation and automobile manufacturer established in 1899. The company produces a range of cars and vans; it has previously manufactured trucks, tractors, tanks, buses/coaches, aircraft and aircraft engines, as well as autorail vehicles. Headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris, the Renault group is made up of the namesake Renault marque along with subsidiaries Alpine, Dacia from Romania, and Mobilize. Renault Trucks, previously known as Renault Véhicules [sic] Industriels, has been part of the Volvo Group since 2001. Renault Agriculture became fully owned by German agricultural equipment manufacturer CLAAS in 2008. Renault is known for its role in motor sport, particularly rallying, Formula One and Formula E. The company's early work on mathematical curve modeling for car bodies is significant in the history of computer graphics.
